Rules and how to play
Red moves first. Generals stay in their palaces and may not face each other; advisers move diagonally in the palace. Elephants move two diagonally, cannot cross the river, and are blocked at the eye. Horses move one straight then one diagonally and can be leg-blocked. Chariots slide, cannons need exactly one screen to capture, and soldiers gain sideways moves after crossing the river but never retreat. You cannot expose your general. Checkmate and stalemate both lose. Site repetition rules: a sole perpetual checker loses; other threefold repetitions draw, as do 120 plies without a capture or soldier move. Complex tournament perpetual-chase adjudication is not implemented. No clock; local practice AI.
